Villa Mafalda is a beautiful villa with pool, private lush garden, air conditioned bedrooms and stunning views of the Mediterranean sea. Located in the island of Capri, at 5 minutes by bus from the Blue Grotto this villa is the perfect place for an unforgettable holiday in the magic island.
 
Internet connection, breakfast service, cleaning service. Parking for two cars is available although in the island you do not need to drive.

Capri is also the perfect base from which to explore the artistic, historic and natural treasures located on the other islands of the Bay of Naples as Ischia and Procida and on the mainland like Sorrento, Pompei, Positano, all of which are easily visited in a series of fascinating day trips and excursions by hydrofoil.

Villa Mafalda was built by Prince Heinrich von Essen a distinguished painter, greatly influenced by his time spent in the Isles of Capri and Ischia. His nephew, the actual owner of villa Mafalda recently restored the villa and made it even more beautiful.

The house is located on the road to the Blue Grotto at 3km to the centre of Anacapri and even less to the Blue Grotto.

 

The walled garden offers breathtaking views of the blue sea is full of Mediterranean fragrant flowers. Olive trees surround the very large terrace, decorated with pots and statues. The circular pool is just off to the side of the house.

 

LOCATION

Villa Mafalda is located in Anacapri, halfway between the village and the Blue Grotto where is the closest sea access (5 min by bus, bus stop in front of the villa). Capri and the harbor are 15 minute by car/bus.

Capri is located seventeen nautical miles south of Naples and 3 from Sorrento peninsula. This small island is about 6 km long and from 1.2 to 2.8 km. wide. It covers a area of about 10 square km. Mount Tiberio (334 m.) to the east and Mount Solaro (589 m.) to the west are the island’s two main massifs, between which we find the small town of Capri (138 m.) The other inhabited centre, Anacapri (286 m.), is located in a large verdant plain to the west of Mount Solaro. 
In the island motorbikes can be hired but not cars. You can take your car in the island, but we suggest to get a cab or the bus. 


INTERIORS

Ground floor


The recent and complete restoration of the property has preserved the authentic architecture of this beautiful home. Each piece has been carefully chosen to create a harmonious blend between classic good taste and comforts. Beautiful paintings and prints adorns the walls, filling each room with warmth, character and distinction.


The comfortable living room with beautifully upholstered sofa and armchairs, antique and decorative fireplace opens directly to the patio and the garden.


On the right of the living room is the Blue Bedroom: Air conditioned double bedroom opening to the garden, en suite bathroom (shower). On request this bedroom can be fitted as a twin bedded room.


The Yellow Bedroom: air conditioned double bedroom with separate private bathroom (tub). On request this bedroom can be fitted as a twin bedded room.


The Twin Bedroom with en suite bathroom (shower) this bedroom is not air conditioned as it is located in the coolest part of the villa with north facing window. Beds cannot be joined.


On the left of the living room is the Formal dining room with table for 10 and double doors opening to the pool side area. 

Fully equipped kitchen (4-burner gas stove, oven, microwave, coffee machine, fridge, freezer, dishwasher).


Laundry room washing machine.


Behind the kitchen is a small bedroom with a single bed and bathroom en suite with a tub. This bedroom is available only on request and is suitable for a nanny or teenager.



First floor

The first and ground floors are linked by an elegantly rounded stairway.

Cleaning service and maid service 3 hrs per day / 6 days per week. Breakfast service (Italian breakfast), Gardener/pool maintenance 6 days per week.


Services Available at an Additional Cost Cook for lunch and dinner, extra maid service, personal laundry. Heating in the winter is extra.

•Not to miss: the Church of San Michele in Anacapri one of the island's most important attractions, thanks to its splendid pavement in majolica, depicting expulsion of Adam and Eve from Eden.

•Visit the collection of Villa San Michele, Axel Munthe's residence between 1896 and 1910.

•Take a leisurely stroll through the historic center of Capri, with the fabulous boutiques.

•Explore by boat the island's unique coastline, swim close to the hidden caves and sunbath in the secluded beaches.

•Take a tour of the ruins of Emperor Tiberius' imposing Villa Jovis.

•Get the chairlift up to the summit of Mount Solaro.
